Paris, Horizon 2024
The Mauritian team has already been formed and its ultimate objective is to win an Olympic medal. For the first time in the country’s history, Mauritius has put together a well thought out plan to bring back an Olympic medal, four years ahead of schedule!
Launched by the Ministère de l’Autonomisation de la Jeunesse, des Sports et des Loisirs in February 2020, Horizon Paris 2024 aims to support a group of Mauritian athletes to help them win medals during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games – a project unanimously welcomed by the Mauritian sports community.
An important milestone was reached on 24 September 2020, with the official announcement of Team Mauritius, including 13 athletes to date. The technical committee of Horizon Paris 2024 worked on this dynamic selection, a list that can be amended following the evolution and progress of the selected athletes.
“With the one & only Olympic medal won by Bruno Julie in 2008, we wish to give ourselves the means to reach our ambitions to grab other Olympic medals. This includes the costs associated with athletes’ training in Mauritius and abroad, travel expenses incurred by their international competitions, transport fees, the purchase of food supplements, medical care expenses…, amongst others”, explains Dominique Filleul
Horizon Paris 2024 is a project launched in collaboration with the private sector. So far, nine companies have agreed to provide financial support to these athletes.
Necker Gestion Privée was the first to embark this amazing adventure as a Gold Sponsor.
To seal this partnership, Necker Gestion Privée selected Kite surfer Jean de Falbaire from Team Mauritius, offering valuable support and assistance to this new discipline at the 2024 Paris Olympic.
